New Political Theatre
Gregory Burke, the Scottish writer of Gagarin Way, The Straits and Liar, has a new play that just opened in Edinburgh. The Black Watch is the story of the famed Scottish regiment in Iraq, and according to The Guardian, is “a mature and complex piece of political theatre – fierce, passionate and unguarded.”
There is no question that theatre exists in our news—the performances have all been top rate, but the question is: where is the news in our theatre?
